Riga Airport to City Centre: Bus 22, Taxi, Bolt or Transfer (2026)

Riga Airport (RIX) is about 10 km from the city centre, roughly 20 minutes by car outside rush hour. There are four realistic ways to reach the centre and the Old Town: bus 22, a licensed taxi, Bolt or a pre-booked private transfer. The right one depends on your budget, your luggage and the time you land.

Bus 22: the cheapest way in

Bus 22 is the only public transport link between the airport and the city, and no train serves the airport. The stop is at the short-term car park P1, between arrival exits E and C, with buses every 10 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

  • A 90-minute ticket costs €1.50. Buy it in the Rīgas satiksme or Mobilly app, at the ticket machine at the stop or at Narvesen shops (by the Arrival hall E exit and in the second-floor check-in hall).
  • A single ticket from the driver costs €1.81 and only bank cards are accepted, no cash.
  • Day passes: 24 hours €5, 3 days €8, 5 days €10. Validate your ticket every time you board.

In the city the bus stops at Nacionālā bibliotēka (National Library and Radisson Blu Daugava), 11. novembra krastmala (the riverside edge of the Old Town), Autoosta (the Central Bus Station and Central Railway Station), Centrāltirgus (Central Market) and Abrenes iela. The night bus N22, launched on 18 April 2026, runs hourly, from the airport about 00:30 to 04:30 and from the centre 00:00 to 04:00.

Licensed taxi

Licensed airport taxi brands are XTaxi, TaxiLV and Red Cab, waiting at the rank just outside the arrival halls with the tariff displayed on the car door. You can also buy a €33.50 fixed-price voucher at the Visitor Centre in Arrival hall E. It covers one trip with no stops for up to four passengers with luggage to most hotels in central Riga. Unlicensed taxis set their own rates with no upper limit, so always agree the fare before you get in.

Bolt

Bolt shows the price in the app before you book. Pick-up is at a marked area in car park P1. If you do not have the app, you can order and pay by card at the Bolt self-service screens at arrival exits E and C. Prices follow demand, so the same ride can cost more at busy times.

Private transfer

A private transfer is best for late landings, children, heavy luggage or a business trip that needs a VAT invoice. The price is fixed per vehicle when you book, whatever the traffic, and you add your flight number so the driver tracks your landing. The driver waits up to 60 minutes after landing at no extra charge, and private flights at FBO Riga are covered.

VehiclePassengersAirport to city centre
Standard car (Volvo V60 / Mercedes-Benz E-Class)3€45
Standard van (Opel Zafira Life)7€50
Premium van (Mercedes-Benz V-Class)6€65
Premium car (Mercedes-Benz S400 AMG Line)3€95
Large van (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter)19€145

Prices are per vehicle, one way. Riga Airport to Majori in Jūrmala is the same price, about 20 km and 21 minutes. The S-Class needs 1 day's notice and the Sprinter 3 days.

Which option should you choose?

  • Budget and light luggage: bus 22.
  • Landing after midnight: the N22 night bus, Bolt or a licensed taxi, or a pre-booked transfer for a fixed price.
  • A family or group with luggage: one van instead of two taxis.
  • A business trip that needs a VAT invoice: a pre-booked private transfer.
  • Going to Jūrmala: taxi, Bolt or a transfer, about 20 minutes.

Prices, stops and pick-up points were checked in October 2026 and may change, so confirm with the operator before you travel. See our Riga Airport transfer page for meet and greet and FBO details, or all transfer prices.
