Vilnius is 294 km from Riga, about three and a half hours by car before any stops. It is a baroque capital with a UNESCO-listed old town, and the route there is full of reasons to slow down.
You set the departure time, choose the stops and decide how long to stay. Luggage stays in the car between stops. A route with all four stops makes a long day, so start early or pick two.

The 19-seat Sprinter is available on request and needs at least 3 days' notice. Prices are for the whole vehicle with driver, not per person, and include the shortest sightseeing stop.
Choose at least one stop when you book and how long you want to stay. The driver waits at every stop and your luggage stays in the car.
A castle where two rivers meet, the Mūsa and the Mēmele, which together form the Lielupe. It combines the ruins of a Livonian Order fortress with a later residence of the Dukes of Courland, and it is among the most photogenic places in southern Latvia. Bauska is about an hour south of Riga.

A Baroque residence designed by Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the architect of the Winter Palace in St Petersburg, for the Dukes of Courland. Allow at least 1.5 hours for the state rooms and the large French-style garden. It is about 80 km from Riga.

A spiritual and very photogenic site about 12 km north of Šiauliai, where visitors have left crosses since the 19th century. It was bulldozed several times in the Soviet period and the crosses kept returning. Entry is free; allow 30 to 45 minutes.

A historic red-brick castle on an island in Lake Galvė, about 30 km from Vilnius. Views, a lakeside promenade, boat rentals and kibinai, the pastries of the local Karaite community, make it a perfect last stop before the capital.

The Baroque old town of the Lithuanian capital is UNESCO-listed and one of the largest in Eastern Europe. Walk Gediminas Avenue to Cathedral Square, climb to Gediminas Tower for the view and have lunch in the old town. Allow 2 to 3 hours.
